U.S. Department of Labor: Bureau of Labor Statistics
This database offers any information you would want to know about labor and the statistics associated with them. Go to Occupations and you will find any information you could possibly want about jobs in the U.S.: wages, job projection, occupational outlook, etc.
Here is how you would find information on wages for a particular job.
1. Click on the link above.
2. Under Wages, Earnings and Benefits, click on Wages by Area and Occupation
3. Under State Wage Data, click on By State
4. Select the state in which you hope to work someday
5. The jobs are listed by category. If you know what job you are interested in and know the category, select it.
6. Once you select a job, click again on the name of the job. You will see an amazing amount of statistics about this profession. Spend some time exploring it to get a good overview of how much money you could earn, what states hire the most in this profession, etc.

How you can use this data base...
1. Take an online survey of your skills and get a match of occupations which fir the skills you have and hope to acquire
2. Search the occupations database by the name of the job
3. Search the occupations database by using the job family tool
4. Search the occuaptions database by doing a "Tools and Technology" search. If you have knowledge of a tool, such as excel spreadsheets, you could type that information in the search box and a list of careers would be compiled for you which you would use that skill.
